CHENGDU, Jan. 23 (NBD) -- China will likely experience a mini baby boom in 2017 or 2018.

Under the instructions of the central government, more than 40 departments under the State Council will work together to ease the burden of families by building supporting systems and strengthening population and fertility culture construction, so as to promote the implementation of the two-child policy, according to Yang Wenzhuang, director of the family planning grassroots guidance department under the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

A survey conducted by the National Health and Family Planning Commission in 2015 shows that 74.5 percent of couples are unwilling to have a second child due to economic pressure, 61.1 percent for energy issues, and 60.5 percent for lack of helping hands.
