CHENGDU, Jan. 17 (NBD) -- Offshore duty-free policy was extended to benefit passengers leaving Hainan province by train, according to an announcement made by the Ministry of Finance. 

The new regulation came into effect on January 15. 

Passengers aged 16 or over can now buy duty-free goods at brick-and-mortar stores or online outlet of duty-free shopping complexes of Sanya Haitang Bay and Haikou Meilan Airport by producing ID cards and their train tickets to leave Hainan, and then pick up duty-free goods at pick-up counters of Haikou Railway Station when leaving the island.
