After 12 years, China once again secured both men's and women's crowns at the 2024 BWF Thomas & Uber Cup.
On May 5, 2024, during the final day of the 2024 Total Energies Thomas Cup and Uber Cup (referred to as “Chengdu 2024 TUC” for short), the Chinese women's and men's badminton teams secured victories over the Indonesian teams, clinching the Uber Cup and Thomas Cup titles, respectively.
Chengdu truly lived up to its reputation as the "City of Double Champions." During the 9-day event, which featured 62 matches involving 20 countries and regions and 32 teams, top players and spectators from around the world gathered in Chengdu to experience the charm of badminton and the city itself.

The successful conclusion of Chengdu 2024 TUC not only marked a significant moment in the "sports year" of 2024, led by the Paris Olympics, but also served as another testament to Chengdu's status as a world-class sports event host.
From last year's World University Summer Games to this year's TUC, major sporting events are driving the growth of Chengdu's sports economy.
Behind this lies Chengdu's sports aggregation effect. In 2022, Chengdu's sports industry surpassed ¥100 billion for the first time. It reached ¥116 billion last year, representing a 15.5% year-on-year growth. With a series of international and national high-level sporting events being hosted in Chengdu one after another, sports consumption scenes are thriving in venues like the Phoenix Mountain Sports Park. Chengdu's total sports industry scale aims to break through ¥133.5 billion in 2024 and ¥150 bln yuan in 2025.
