CHENGDU, Dec. 28 (NBD) -- Out-of-town salt producers and wholesalers with provincial-level salt wholesale licenses are allowed to conduct business in Beijing starting in 2017, according to Beijing's implementation scheme for salt industry reform released by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce on Tuesday.

This is China's first provincial-level salt reform plan.

Salt producers and wholesalers are encouraged to integrate production and sales. Social capitals are also urged to partner with existing production entities to enter the salt production sector.

A source with a listed salt company told NBD that Beijing's new police will give a strong boost to the performance of salt enterprises, but social capitals might not be enthusiastic about the decision because of the excessive raw materials supply for refined salt at present.
