On February 16, 2025, the Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 achieved another remarkable milestone, surpassing 11.5 billion yuan in box office revenue. This success is not only a testament to the film's popularity in China but also a reflection of its growing international appeal.

The film, which premiered in the United States on February 14, 2025, received a warm welcome, with tickets selling out quickly. Two Oscar judges who attended a screening in Los Angeles expressed their admiration for the film and called out to director Jiaozi, hoping Ne Zha 2 to compete for the 2025 Academy Awards.

Sheila Sofian, Director of the Expanded Animation Program at the University of Southern California and an Oscar judge, stated, "We were very impressed by Ne Zha 1, and many of my students have been raving about Ne Zha 2. I was very excited to see it."

After watching the film, she added, "It's fantastic! The production design, sound, and music have all been elevated. The storyline is complex and engaging."

She also extended her message to Ne Zha 2's director Jiaozi, "Your exceptional professionalism in the film truly shines through. I am eagerly looking forward to your next project. This movie will be highly competitive among the Oscar contenders, and I am very excited for Nezha 2 to compete for the 2025 Oscars. That way, I will have the opportunity to vote for you!" 

Another Oscar judge, Alan Elassoff, also praised the film, saying, "This is something that Chinese people, especially Chinese filmmakers, should be very proud of. Director Jiaozi, your film is truly amazing. I'm looking forward to what you will create next. Congratulations on this significant achievement."

The popularity of Ne Zha 2 has also had a positive impact on the sales of related merchandise in Yiwu, Zhejiang. Merchants who had previously designed Ne Zha-themed products several years ago are now experiencing a surge in demand. Companies have had to start production early and increase their inventory to meet the growing market.

Wang Kai, the head of a small accessories manufacturing company in Yiwu, reported that they have already received over 200,000 orders for Ne Zha-themed headbands. "From the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, old customers started contacting us for these products. We began production as soon as our workers returned after the holiday."

Other Ne Zha-themed toys, such as the Fire-Tipped Spear, have also become popular. Vendors at the Yiwu International Trade Mart are increasing their stock to keep up with the demand.

Ne Zha 2 has not only achieved a significant box office success but has also garnered international acclaim and boosted the sales of related merchandise.

With its captivating storyline, stunning visuals, and strong cultural themes, the film has resonated with audiences worldwide. As it continues to make waves both domestically and internationally, Ne Zha 2 is poised to leave a lasting mark on the global film industry.
