The Paris 2024 Olympics is coming next week. More than 12,000 connected screens, 8,000 Wi-Fi terminals, 13,000 computers and 400,000 km of optical fiber will be used.
20,000 journalists will be covering the competitions, and also watching eagerly will be several billion TV viewers and 13 million spectators in the stadiums.
Technology, including AI, will be fundamental for the success of the Games. How Olympics will be a tech feast?
AI to transform Olympic experience
Immersive AI experience was created for fans on site in Paris, taking visitors on a journey of becoming an Olympic athlete. Intel's AI platform will use AI and computer vision to analyse athletic drills and match each participant’s profile to an Olympic sport.
Cinematic lenses bring fans closer
More than 11,000 hours of content –up from 10,200 at Tokyo 2020 – will be broadcast. Cinematic lenses will allow viewers to see four times more detail than in full High Definition. Add to that 5.1.4 immersive audio, which will offer viewers a more realistic, 3D sound experience, and make them feel like they are right in the middle of the action.
Timekeeping goes high-tech
Swiss watchmakers Omega will bring 350 tons of equipment to Paris to keep track of times. Some 550 official timekeepers and on-site professionals will work across the 32 sports with support from 900 trained volunteers.
