There is the latest development in Tom Zhu's job change at Tesla.
On April 6th local time, Tesla disclosed in a regulatory filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that Tom Zhu (Zhu Xiaotong) started serving as the Senior Vice President of the company's automotive business from April 2023.
In addition, Tesla listed three senior executives, including CEO Elon Musk, CFO Zachary Kirkhorn, and Senior Vice President of Powertrain and Energy Engineering Andrew Baglino.
Public information shows that Tom Zhu graduated from Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and obtained an MBA degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in the United States. He has rich management experience and multinational work experience.
In April 2014, Tom Zhu joined Tesla and led the development of Tesla's supercharging stations in China. Tom Zhu played an important role in the rapid development of Tesla's supercharging stations in China. During this period, Tesla built nearly 40 supercharging stations in China and more than 600 destination charging stations in over 60 cities nationwide.
According to Tesla's delivery data, in 2022, Tesla produced a total of 1.3696 million cars globally and delivered 1.3139 million cars, marking the first time that Tesla's global production and delivery volume exceeded one million cars, of which over 1.2 million were Model 3 and Y series. The delivery volume in 2021 was 936,200 cars. The delivery volume in 2022 increased by more than 40% year-on-year.
According to Tesla's official Weibo account on April 3rd, Tesla produced more than 440,000 electric vehicles and delivered more than 422,000 electric vehicles globally in the first quarter of 2023.
