Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Motor Corp. and Japan's Honda Motor Co., has issued recalls for 6,493 Elysion models due to hatch defects, according to China's market regulator.

The recall began on April 2, involving select Elysion multi-purpose vehicles manufactured between Oct. 12, 2021 and Feb. 26, 2022, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

A riveting defect may lead hatch struts to break off suddenly, posing potential safety hazards, according to the administration.

The Wuhan-based carmaker will replace the defective parts free of charge.
