A total of 12 Chinese universities have live-streamed campus tours, although the new semester has been suspended due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The beautiful spring landscapes of the universities, such as Tongji and Soochow, reached 300,000 viewers on Wednesday on Taobao, a shopping platform of e-commerce giant Alibaba.

College students stranded at home, alumni and high school students who are interested in entering these universities, as well as their parents, were among the viewers.

"I have been watching the live-streaming tour, and I hope my daughter will be fortunate enough to get enrolled," said a post in the live-streaming room of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

The live-streaming lasted nearly two hours.

Apart from the platform of Taobao, a website affiliated to the Ministry of Education called "China university student online" and the China University Media Union, a campus press group led by China Youth Daily, co-organized the event.
