CHENGDU, Feb. 23 (NBD) -- Six provinces and regions - Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Ningxia, Gansu, and Xinjiang (including the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps) - are not allowed to approve new wind power projects this year as they have been put on red alert by the National Energy Administration (NEA) for excessive investment in this sector.

At the same time, they are urged to fully make use of the existing wind power projects.

To increase clean energy supply for the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region, the NEA also called for efforts to speed up the construction of the phase II wind power project of the Chengde base, expecting all projects will be connected to the power grid by the end of 2017. The phase III wind power project of the Zhangjiakou base will be accelerated as well.
