A month-long exhibition series will kick off in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, to celebrate China’s Spring Festival, according to a news conference held in Chengdu on Jan 13.
Sponsored by the Chengdu Administration of Culture, Radio, TV, News and Publishing, more than 1,000 activities, including symphonies, temple fairs and lantern shows, will be held throughout the month. The well-known 49th Chengdu Panda Lantern Show and 2017 Chengdu Jinsha Culture Festival will also open during the month.
“Chengdu has both vivid folk customs and rich cultural traditions,” said an official from the Chengdu Administration of Culture, Radio, TV, News and Publishing.
With a total investment of over 30 million yuan (4.35 million US dollars), the Chengdu Panda Lantern Show will occupy an area of about 30 hectares with over 130 lantern scenes. As the largest lantern show of Chengdu, the panda lantern show is expected to bring audiences a delightful spectacle.
