CHENGDU, Jan. 12 (NBD) -- The number of pilot cities for the "Made in China 2025" strategy will likely hit 30 this year, according to the plan of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Wuhan, Quanzhou, Chengdu, and several other cities, following Ningbo, were recently approved as pilot cities for the program.

The MIIT, at the same time, will revise and improve provincial guidelines for "Made in China 2025," encouraging local governments to promote differential development and reasonable arrangements in key areas.

Moreover, it will announce the first pilot bases for the "Made in China 2025" excellence initiative.

The manufacturing industry is expected to see a change in pattern in the future, with East China to shift to upscale equipment manufacturing, Central China to undergo industrial upgrade, and West China to make breakthroughs in the development of competitive industries.
