CHENGDU, Jan. 11 (NBD) -- A special planning for artificial intelligence (AI) will be formulated this year. 

Wan Gang, minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, made the remarks at a working conference on science and technology in Beijing on Tuesday. 

Efforts will be made to ensure key AI projects will get off to a quick start, the minister added. 

According to the 13th five-year plan for scientific innovation released on August 8, AI is a major trend of the development of new-generation information technologies. It is expected to gain extensive use with the policy boost, technical breakthroughs, and application expansion.
