CHENGDU, Jan. 5 (NBD) -- Local governments are urged to leave markets accessible to local companies wide open to foreign ones, which will no longer need to set up subsidiaries in the regions for local business operation, according to information revealed from the first executive meeting of the State Council in 2017.

The conference emphasizes that China will strive to create a relaxed and convenient access environment, fair and orderly competitive environment, and reassuring consumer environment during the 13th five-year plan period.

The central government, meanwhile, will enhance supervision over major commodities like food, drugs, and farmer products, and will seek to build a punitive huge-compensation mechanism to crack down on serious violations, such as manufacturing and selling counterfeited products.
