CHENGDU, Dec. 27 (NBD) -- Rural construction land is expected to be traded in a unified urban-rural market and enjoy the same rights and market prices as state-owned land.

The 12th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) has decided to revise the Land Administration Law of China.

A number of NPC delegates have called for the amendment of provisions concerning compensation standards, scope, procedures of land expropriation, ways of compensation, and transfer of rural collective construction land.

Guo Jingli, associate researcher with the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, told NBD that a sound rural collective property system that clearly defines ownership as well as rights and responsibilities is beneficial to promote the commercialization of rural resources and to break the monopoly.
