CHENGDU, Dec. 15 (NBD) -- Central China's Hubei suspended all coal mines within the province and embarked on inspections to ensure safety production, according to Hubei Provincial Safety Production Supervision Authority (HPSPSA).

The move was made after a gas outburst killed 11 miners last Monday at Xinjia Coal Mine in Badong, a county in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei. Several officials have been suspended from their duties.

Self examination and rectification on coal mine operations are urged, resumptions are only allowed after inspection and acceptance made by county-level heads, for mines with coal and gas outburst, only HPSPSA has the right to inspect and approvel the resumptions, according to Safety Commission Office of Hubei Province.
