Alibaba's Amap (Gaode Maps) has unveiled its latest major initiative, the "Street Scan Ranking" (高德扫街榜), at a launch event in Hangzhou. This release marks another significant step in Amap's full-scale AI transformation. CEO Guo Ning announced that the new feature will be "permanently non-commercial," signaling a long-term commitment to user experience over monetization.
The company disclosed that Amap now covers over 7 million restaurant locations nationwide. The platform sees 120 million daily searches for life services and guides users to 13 million life service destinations. There are also reports that Amap may soon introduce group-buying services, further expanding its offerings.
On the same day, competitor Meituan announced the official "relaunch" of its "Quality Takeout" (品质外卖) service on Dianping. The new service will leverage its proprietary B-side large model, combining "AI + authentic high scores" to provide users with more reliable dining decisions.
Meituan stated that the initial phase includes over one million highly-rated dine-in restaurants. By using a vast amount of authentic user reviews, the service aims to deliver premium dine-in food to customers' homes. The upgrade will also focus on recommending high-scoring small shops, community eateries, and family-owned businesses, helping these local establishments gain more online and offline traffic.
