On the afternoon of June 30th at 3 PM, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link (referred to as the ShenZhong Link) will begin trial operations.
Once open, the travel time between Shenzhen and Zhongshan will be reduced from two hours to less than 30 minutes. In the future, the journey from Guangzhou Nansha to Zhongshan will take only 15 minutes, and the travel time from Zhuhai and Jiangmen to Shenzhen will be reduced from over two hours to within one hour.
The Shen-Zhong Link took seven years to complete and is expected to handle a daily traffic volume of 80,000 to 100,000 standard vehicles. The toll for the entire route is set at 66 yuan per standard vehicle, with an estimated daily toll revenue exceeding 5 million yuan based on the projected traffic volume.
According to the “Shen-Zhong Link Release” WeChat account, the Shen-Zhong Link integrates bridges, islands, tunnels, and underwater interchanges, spanning approximately 24 kilometers. It is located about 30 kilometers north of the Humen Bridge and 31 kilometers south of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The link starts at the Shenzhen Airport Interchange, crosses the Lingdingyang waters, connects with the Wanqingsha Interchange and the Nansha Expressway, and lands on Ma’anshan Island in Zhongshan, where it connects with the Zhongkai Expressway.
The bridge has set five world records: the largest offshore steel box girder span, the highest navigable clearance, the largest offshore anchorage volume, the highest strength of main cable steel wires, and the highest wind speed for vibration testing.
