In the first episode, foreign singers stole the show, with American singer Chanté Moore and Canadian singer Faouzia ranking first and second, respectively, while Na Ying, known as the “big sister” of China’s music scene, only managed to secure third place. The broadcast sparked heated discussions among netizens, especially since Na Ying, despite her status, only came in third, with the top two spots taken by foreign singers.

After the show aired, it sparked intense discussions among viewers and netizens, with Na Ying frequently trending on Weibo.

It’s worth mentioning that after a group interview, when a reporter encouraged Na Ying from the audience not to be nervous, she quickly retorted with a witty “Why don’t you try being up here,” which left everyone in stitches.

Moreover, concerned netizens began to rally support for the show’s lineup, calling on singers like Li Jian, Yuan Yawei, Tan Weiwei, Deng Ziqi (G.E.M.), Zhang Jie, Lin Zhixuan, Phoenix Legend, Zhou Shen, and Yang Zongwei to come and support the stage: Na Ying can’t hold it alone! CCTV’s entertainment network also called for Yuan Yawei to lend her support.

On May 12th, singer Han Hong posted: “I am Chinese singer Han Hong, I volunteer!” Jiang Yingrong also expressed her readiness to join the excitement of live, unedited singing, stating “Chinese singer Jiang Yingrong is always ready. Ready to go on stage for a battle.” Additionally, Ji Minjia (now renamed Ji Dandi) volunteered for “Singer 2024,” saying, “Can I bravely sign up to challenge the foreign singers on stage?"
