On March 4, Beijing Yi'anqi New Energy Technology (hereinafter referred to as Yi'anqi Technology), a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and BMW, was officially established in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Starting from Chaoyang District, Beijing, the two parties will further expand the supercharging network in the Chinese market to meet the growing demand of domestic customers for charging services.

As early as the end of November last year, BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz announced that Brilliance BMW Automotive and Mercedes-Benz (China) Investment announced the signing of a cooperation agreement. The two parties will establish a 50-50 joint venture in China.

According to the plan, by the end of 2026, Yi'anqi Technology will build at least 1,000 supercharging stations and about 7,000 supercharging piles in China. The first batch of charging stations is planned to start operating in key new energy vehicle cities in China from 2024, and the subsequent construction of charging stations will also cover other cities and regions across the country.

It is learned that Yi'anqi Technology's charging network will be open to the public, and plans to purchase renewable energy electricity under conditions permitting. BMW and Mercedes-Benz customers can enjoy exclusive services such as plug-and-play and online appointments.

BMW and Mercedes-Benz both announced that they will tailor their experience in charging operations to the Chinese market. Through this cooperation, both sides hope to further enhance the public charging experience for customers.
