Dec. 11 (NBD) -- Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd.'s new-energy vehicle (NEV) plant located at Shunyi district of Beijing has completed the construction of its main assembly workshop, which means it will soon start operation.

The facility, which will involve a total investment of 11.9 billion yuan (1.7 billion U.S. dollars), is the largest standalone NEV manufacturing factory with the most advanced production standards in China. It is able to manufacture the EQC, the first all-electric SUV under the Mercedes-Benz brand, and the new-generation high-end model Mercedes-Benz GLB.

The output value of the Shunyi factory is estimated to top 10 billion yuan (1.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2020.
