On August 22, Kingsoft reported its 2017 first half results.

The report shows that income of the first half year from continuing operations totaled 2.498 billion yuan (375.5 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 76% year on year.

Revenues from Kingsoft Cloud in the first half year hit 573 million yuan (86.1 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 102% year on year.

Kingsoft Cloud CEO Wang Yulin told NBD that they mainly offer 3 types of cloud services: cloud storage, gaming cloud, and video cloud. It will continue to focus on its edges. But so far, their cloud computing services hasn't yet become profitable.

Till now, most of cloud services providers haven't turned a profit, as they are still in the input stage, Wang explained. Supply falls short of demand at the moment, and companies want to grow their cloud businesses. That's to say, what they put into the market is bigger than the returns they get for the time being. If they rush to make profits, they can just scale down their investments.
