Hewlett-Packard Inc Tuesday launched its 3D printing services in China, as the American technology firm bets on the huge demand arising with China's manufacturing sector upgrade.

HP said its local partner Shining 3D will deploy HP 3D printing hardware and software in 50 locations across China including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Nanjing. The other local partner -- Infinite 3D Printing -- will offer HP 3D solutions in cities like Qingdao and Suzhou.

HP said it will expand its 3D printing dealers in China and open exhibition and experience centers in several cities.

Ramo n Pastor, vice president and general manager of HP 3D printing, said China's manufacturing industry is in transition with the government's "Made in China 2025" strategy, and HP 3D printing solutions can help improve productivity, lower costs, and produce tailor-made products.

Made in China 2025 is a roadmap to guide the development of advanced manufacturing, including smart manufacturing, in the country.

The market for 3D printing in China is booming. People are testing the technology in every possible application, from housing to food, clothing and surgery. According to China 3D Printing Technology Industry Alliance, the market for China's 3D printing industry is estimated to top 20 billion yuan (2.94 billion U.S.dollars) in 2018.
