Chinese vehicle brands have surpassed South Korean counterparts in terms of technology, quality, prices, and services, and will overtake Japanese peers over the next two years, Li Shufu, a member of the national committee of CPPCC and Chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd., told NBD in an interview during this year's NPC & CPPCC sessions. 

He believes that local auto manufacturers will see a further increase in market share. 

According to him, new-energy vehicles and autonomous driving are inevitable trends of the automotive industry. 

This year, Li put forward two proposals, urging authorities to give a strong boost to the development of methanol-powered vehicles and to loosen restrictions on accurate mapping within limits.
