CHENGDU, Feb. 14 (NBD) -- China's proprietary auto brands, including JAC Motors, Geely Holding Group, and Chery Automobile, are revving up for expansion  in European and American markets.

Geely will launch its TX5 plug-in taxi in the UK at the end of this year. The model will be manufactured at the company's Coventry plant, which then will also produce an all-electric van.

Before that, JAC announced a deal worth 1.452 billion yuan (211 million US dollars) with its Mexican partners to set up a joint venture in Hidalgo to produce the S2 and S3 sport-utility vehicles.

Chery is mulling a three-tier competitive pattern in international markets, with a goal to become a world-class auto manufacturer with strong competitive edge.

The carmaker aims to grab share from premium brands like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz based on the Jaguar Land Rover marque, to expand its presence in the medium/high-end segment through the Qoros brand, and to attract the general public with cost-effective Chery models.
