CHENGDU, Feb. 13 (NBD) -- Northwest China's Shaanxi province aims to squeeze into the first camp in terms of new-energy vehicle sales this year, according to the region's development plan. 

The province expects its automobile industry to produce 550,000 vehicles as well as total industrial output value of 140 billion yuan (about 20.31 billion US dollars) in 2017, moving up one notch to the 18th position in the national ranking. 

In other news, Shaanxi will explore new growth engines by building high-end energy-chemical industry, advanced manufacturing industry, and aviation industry bases.
