CHENGDU, Feb. 13 (NBD) -- The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing on May 14 and 15, 2017.

The upcoming forum will explore ways to address regional and global economic problems, generate fresh energy for interconnected development, and make the Belt and Road Initiative deliver greater benefits to people of the countries involved.

The Belt and Road initiative has been echoed by over 100 countries and international organizations since it was put forward in 2013. More than 40 have inked cooperation agreements with China on joint construction of the route.

In 2016, China's direct investment to en-route countries totalled 14.53 billion US dollars, according to China's Ministry of Commerce.
