CHENGDU, Feb. 10 (NBD) -- China overtook the US as the world's largest new-energy vehicle (NEV) market last year.

The country's NEV sales jumped 53 percent year over year to 507,000 units in 2016.

In terms of total vehicle deliveries, the figure reached around 28 million units, hitting a record high and representing a year-over-year increase of 13.7 percent, Sun Jiwen, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, said at a routine session on Thursday.

This, once again, helped China extend its lead as the world's largest car market.
