CHENGDU, Feb. 6 (NBD) -- The southwestern province of Sichuan will invest 20 million yuan (2.92 million US dollars) annually during the 2016-2020 period to nurture and attract tourism talents in minority areas.

A batch of tourism talent training and development pilot bases will be built, aimed at filling up all vacancies left at administrative tourism institutions within three years and offering rotational training to all direct practitioners in those regions within five years.

Schemes of the five-year program are currently applicable to the province's ethnic autonomous regions and counties that enjoy the same treatment as those regions, and will be gradually extended to old revolutionary areas as well as impoverished counties in Qinling-Dabashan mountainous area, Wumeng mountainous areas, Liangshan Yi autonomous areas, and Tibetan areas.
