CHENGDU, Jan. 4 (NBD) -- China Railway Corporation expects to increase its volume of freight traffic to 2.75 billion tons this year. 

The company's General Manager Lu Dongfu made the remarks at the working conference Tuesday. 

If the goal is achieved, it would be the company's first positive growth in the freight volume in six years. 

This year, China Railway Corporation plans to put 2,100 kilometers of new lines into operation, Lu added.
