CHENGDU Dec. 20 (NBD) -- On Dec. 19, GOME Holdings Group, which will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary of establishment, is rushing to embrace the new retail model. When announcing the company's new retail strategy, Du Juan, CEO of GOME Holdings Group, said that with the arrival of the Internet era, the retail chain faced challenges as both a physical retail company and a giant corporation, but it was neither confused nor panicky, and restructured its six business segments with retail staying at the core of its business.

NBD journalist learned that guided by the new retail model, GOME will reshape roles of interest-related parties within the ecosystem, build a closed ecological loop under the "6+1" model, and create a social business ecosphere. The "6" of the "6+1" model refers to user-, product-, platform-, service-, sharing-, and experience-centered strategy, based on which a complete closed ecological loop will be established, while the "1" represents the integration of online and offline channels.

It is noteworthy that in addition to GOME, e-commerce giants like Alibaba have put forth the new retail concept.

As a retail group, GOME does a great job in merchandising as well as store operations and service offerings, and its new retail model points to the combination driven by the coordinated innovation of technology and products, industry insiders say. Different from the transition from e-commerce to new retail, GOME is expanding its presence through the shift from physical retail to omni-channel retail and then to new retail.
