CHENGDU, Dec. 5 (NBD) -- Southwestern China's Sichuan Province will introduce staggered employee vacation schedule and spring holidays at schools, in an effort to increase consumer participation in tourism. 

According to a proposal on further accelarating the development of tourism reform issued by the local government, Sichuan will encourage different goverment entities, institutions in different regions within the province to adopt staggered employee vacation schedules or flexible work schedules. It will also encourage enterprises to arrange travelling and leisure as benefits to their employees.

The government will also urge HR departments to supervise and inspect the implementation of paid annual leave and rest day system.

In addition, without reducing total teaching period, it will allow colleges and universities to diversify their summer and winter holidays time, while the primary and secondary schools to introduce spring holidays.

The proposal also revealed the province's ambitious plan to build five tourism regions, 10 tourism destinations as well as 10 boutique travel itineraries.
