Modular construction has recently gained immense popularity in overseas markets, driving a rapid surge in Chinese exports.

At Shenzhen's Liantang Port, trucks loaded with building modules clear customs in quick succession, bound for Southeast Asia and beyond. Company executives report a significant growth in export orders.

As a highly integrated form of prefabricated construction, modular building has become a major export driver. According to China Customs data, the country's prefabricated building exports tripled over a decade, soaring from $1.472 billion in 2015 to approximately $4.339 billion in 2025.

This strong momentum has carried into 2026, with the first quarter recording a year-on-year growth rate of 45%.
