On Sunday, April 28th, Google announced the launch of a new generative artificial intelligence (AI) model called the Scalable Ensemble Envelope Diffusion Sampler (SEEDS). This model aims to provide more accurate weather forecasting services, offering cost-effectiveness superior to traditional methods, and is capable of effectively identifying extreme weather events that are often overlooked. Google introduced that the research results of this AI model have been published in the latest issue of the journal Science Advances.

NO.2 Musk: Aim to Resolve Starship Spacecraft’s Space Refueling Issue by End of Next Year 

Elon Musk stated on Friday, April 26th, that the company is committed to resolving the space refueling issue of its two-stage launch rocket Starship by the end of next year and to advance the technology that will eventually send humans to Mars. Musk wrote on X: “Our goal is to solve the full rapid reusability of the booster and spacecraft and the orbital refilling of the spacecraft by the end of next year.” He added that these technologies are vital for sustaining life on another planet outside of Earth.

According to sources cited by foreign media, Apple has once again entered discussions with OpenAI, planning to utilize the startup company’s technology to support some new features that will appear on the iPhone later this year. The sources indicated that the two companies have begun discussing the terms of a potential agreement and how OpenAI’s capabilities will be integrated into Apple’s next-generation iPhone operating system, iOS 18.

NO.4 U.S. FDA Approves Pfizer’s One-Time Gene Therapy for Hemophilia B 

On Friday, April 26th, Eastern Time, American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company’s gene therapy for treating hemophilia, making it the company’s first gene therapy to be approved in the United States. The FDA-approved gene therapy, named Beqvez, targets adults with moderate to severe hemophilia B. Beqvez is a one-time treatment method that enables patients to produce Factor IX and prevent bleeding. Without this protein, known as Factor IX, patients with hemophilia B are more prone to injury, more frequent bleeding, and longer bleeding durations.
