Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced on March 28 that it will release 54,600 cubic meters of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea in seven rounds over the 2024 fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025). The total radioactivity of the discharged water will be 140 trillion becquerels.

The first round of discharges will take place between April and May, with a volume of approximately 7,750 cubic meters.
