The Nvidia 2024 GTC AI Conference, billed as the world's premier AI developer conference, kicked off on Monday, March 18th in Eastern Time. This is the first time in five years that Nvidia has brought its annual GTC back offline, and it is also an AI gathering that analysts believe Nvidia will "flex its muscle".

On Monday afternoon local time, Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang gave a keynote speech titled "The 1#AI Conference for Developers" at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Huang introduced a new generation of chips and software that run AI models.

The new generation of AI graphics processors is named Blackwell. The first Blackwell chip is called the GB200 and will ship later this year.

The Blackwell platform enables organizations everywhere to build and run real-time generative AI on trillion-parameter large language models at up to 25x less cost and energy.

The company also introduced revenue-generating software called NIM that will make it easier to deploy AI, giving customers another reason to stick with Nvidia chips over a rising field of competitors.

In addition, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the launch of the next generation of AI supercomputers, and Nvidia also released the 6G research cloud platform to advance wireless communications with AI technology.
