On April 18th, BYD's high-end brand Yangwang showcased its U8, U9, and architecture at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The U8 model came in two versions (the luxury version and the off-road version) with pre-sale prices starting at 1.098 million yuan. At the same time, the new outlook of U9 was officially unveiled. It is reported that the U8 luxury version will begin official deliveries in September this year.

It is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV and has a longer wheelbase than models such as Mercedes GLS and BMW X7.

In terms of the exterior design, the U8 has a huge “ding” shaped grille on the front with dot-matrix LED lights on both sides and electric retractable door handles. In addition, it has a laser radar on top.

Yangwang stated that this architecture is powered by six core technologies: Yisifang architecture, Yunnian, Blade Battery, Super Body, Intelligent Cockpit and Intelligent Driving Assistance.

According to BYD’s official Weibo account, the Yisifang platform is a power system with four independent motors. It has been comprehensively restructured around the characteristics of new energy vehicles from three dimensions: perception, control and execution, completely overturning the power system capability of traditional fuel vehicles.

It is learned that the electric drive assembly system on the Yisifang technology platform can produce up to 1,100 horsepower and reach a maximum speed of 20,500 rpm. At the same time, all models based on the Yisifang technology platform will have an 800V high-voltage SiC electronic control system, with a maximum efficiency of up to 99.5%.
