After encountering consecutive setbacks, the Metaverse is searching for more practical landing scenarios.

In the past month, while ChatGPT has been hot, the previously top-tier Metaverse in the tech industry seems to have become somewhat lonely.

Foreign tech giants such as Microsoft, Meta, and Disney have all scaled back their investment in Metaverse-related businesses and personnel.

Some industry insiders pointed out that the contraction of these large companies is partly due to the fact that the commercial path of the Metaverse is still unclear, and on the other hand, the underlying technology is still restricting the development of the entire industry.

However, some industry insiders also believe that the industrialization of the Metaverse has not slowed down as a result. In a broader field, artificial intelligence is giving the industrialization of the Metaverse more possibilities. The consumer industry seems to be one of the most imaginative and marketable industries.

"The application of the Metaverse in the consumer industry is not only a technological innovation, but also a revolution in consumption and production models. It will change the way we produce, purchase goods and services, and the operation mode of the consumption industry chain," said Liu Guangqi, a management consulting manager in the technology, media, and communications industry at KPMG China.

Liu added that the Metaverse, as a conceptual framework for technology integration, integrates AR, VR, blockchain, interactive technology, artificial intelligence, and other technologies, thus giving birth to new production capabilities and shaping new production and consumption models.
