Mar. 9 (NBD) -- Xiaomi (1810.HK) has wound up its first and only Mi Store in the UK after less than two years of operation, independent publication Android Authority reported last Friday.

National Business Daily noticed that the store's official Twitter account @mistorelondon has already been shut down. Also, Mi Store is no longer on the list of stores shown on the website of Westfield London, the shopping center where the store was situated. But the official Twitter account and website of Xiaomi UK are still active.

Xiaomi entered the UK market in 2018, with its first authorized store opened on November 18 of the same year. Since the store opening, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has garnered wide attention with a series of cost-effective products, including the Mi 8 Pro. The reason of the store closure remains unknown at present.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Xiaomi said UK users and Mi Fans can continue purchasing Xiaomi products through mi.com/uk and other official channels.

A recent report by research firm Canalys shows that Xiaomi was the fourth largest smartphone vendor in Europe by market share last year. The company shipped 125.5 million smartphones in the region in 2019, making up 9.2 percent of the total sales there.
