July 25 (NBD) -- Video sharing website Bilibili recently added the "interactive video" section to its iOS app. The way of interaction allows viewers to engage with video contents and determine the trend and ending of the story.

National Business Daily (NBD) noticed that the leading video platform started promoting interactive videos on its website in early July. It to date has opened the new feature to uploaders with over 10,000 followers.

Of the interactive videos uploaded by a number of popular uploaders, one garnered 2.64 million views, 137,000 likes, and 67,000 bullet comments in the past 15 days.

In fact, Bilibili is not the first to test the water in the field of interactive videos.

In December last year, media service provider Netflix introduced the first-ever interactive movie for adults, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. In May this year, online entertainment company iQiyi released a trailer for interactive drama His Smile.

"Demand for interaction will definitely surge, with people born in the 2000s becoming major viewers of video sites," Zhang Yi, CEO of iiMedia Research, once said to NBD. Since video sites' business model hasn't changed much since 2005, interactive videos would possibly bring about changes and innovation to the video sector, Zhang said.

But from another angle, Yang Ge, founding partner of Sky Saga Capital, held the investment value of interactive video products remains to be observed.
