June 29 (NBD) -- Chinese cable wire supplier Hengtong Optic-electric Co Ltd (Hengtong Optic-electric, 600487.SH) announced Friday its subsidiary has won the bid to supply submarine optic cable of 2,790 kilometers to Chile's FOA Submarine Cable Project. Following the cooperation with submarine cable projects in Malaysia, Comorin, and Maldives, Hengtong Optic-electric has accumulated rich experience in construction of international marine communication projects.

The company to date has secured submarine cable orders with a total length of 10,000 kilometers in international markets, which signals its successful foray into the international submarine cable supply system. The rapid growth of the international transoceanic communications system will further promote the global expansion of Hengtong Optic-electric's submarine cable business, the cable manufacturer said in the announcement.
