(NBD) Aug. 30 -- On Tuesday, National Business Daily (NBD) signed a strategic contract with JD.com in an effort to jointly build a high-end smart logistics research institute in China.

The institute will serve as a think tank platform which can gather experts, industry information and media resources. With those resources, the platform can help effectively connect the upper-and lower-stream industries.

So far, JD Logistics has the largest e-commerce logistics infrastructure in China. In addition, it is the only global enterprise that runs businesses covering small-and medium packets delivery, large packets delivery, cold chain, B2B, cross-border logistics and crowd-sourcing. As of June 30, JD.com has 335 large warehouses nationwide and 7 large-scale smart warehouses, part of the company's "Asia No.1" initiative. Its delivery services have almost covered 99% of China's total population, reducing the costs by 70% while enhancing efficiency by more than twice than before.

In the following five years, JD Logistics plans to expand its logistics centers to pass 50 million square meters, build cross-region air logistics networks and expand cold chain area to 15 times the size of current one. It also expects to run more than 20 overseas warehouses, covering over 100 countries and regions.

China Smart Logistics Institute is dedicated to help government departments, investors and customers to make right decisions with its research reports.
