CHENGDU, Feb. 24 (NBD) -- Huang Qifan, former mayor of Chongqing municipality, was named vice chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) along with Zhu Xiaodan, former governor of Guangdong province, Yang Xiong, former mayor of Shanghai, and Liu Kun, former vice minister of the Ministry of Finance, at the 26th session of the Standing Committee of the 12th NPC on Friday. 

Huang is widely acclaimed as an official with the most profound understanding of China's financial system as well as the real economy. Based on his sharp financial insight, he shot to fame as a rising political star from China's financial hub Shanghai, and transformed Chongqing into an Internet finance innovation center.
