CHENGDU, Feb. 20 (NBD) -- Audi will introduce up to 13 new models in China to meet diverse customer demand. 

Michael-Julius Renz, head of FAW-Volkswagen Audi Sales Division, made the remarks at the 2017 Audi Brand Annual Press Conference last Friday. 

FAW-Volkswagen Audi will produce six Audi e-tron models locally over the next five years.

Of those, the A6L e-tron and Q7 e-tron are slated to hit the market in February. Both plug-in hybrids feature comprehensive fuel consumption of as low as around 2L/100km. 

Also at the event, FAW-Volkswagen's technical director revealed that the company will increase its R&D investment to 4.5 billion yuan (655 million US dollars) this year from 3 billion yuan (436 million US dollars) last year. 

Of the investment, 75 million euros (79.7 million US dollars) will be used to build new-energy labs.
