CHENGDU, Feb. 14 (NBD) -- BYD Company Limited aims to increase its annual battery production capacity by 6GWh to 16GWh this year. 

This will allow the company to power 960,000 hybrid cars. 

BYD has two power battery production bases, located in Huizhou city and at Kengzi town of Guangdong province, respectively. 

The expansion is currently underway at the Kengzi base. 

While boosting battery capacity, the carmaker is planning to bring eight new-energy vehicles to market. Among them include the Tang 100, Qin 100, and DM versions of the Song and Yuan.
