CHENGDU, Jan. 20 (NBD) -- The Chinese car market is predicted to grow by roughly 7% in 2017 because of the narrowed cut in purchase tax on cars with small engines.

Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that China produced 28.119 million and sold 28.028 million vehicles last year, respectively, representing a 14.5% and 13.7% rise over the previous year.

This marks the eighth consecutive year that China has nabbed the top spot around the world in terms of vehicle output and sales.
