CHENGDU, Jan. 11 (NBD) -- Large-scale fitness brands, being the pursuits of capitals, attracted large amount of investment in this industry.

What is the actual status of China's fitness industry?

Yao Lei, senior analyst with Founder Securities, said at a forum, the market size of global fitness industry reached 600 billion US dollars with a membership of 145 million people. Market size of the United States exceeded 150 billion US dollars, with a penetration rate over 17%.

The United States, Britain and Germany are the world's top 3 fitness markets. China ranks 12th. The global top 10 markets account for 73% of the total revenue and hold 66% of the fitness clubs.

Compared with other countries, China stands lower in terms of club membership, the club number, club penetration rate or the number of fitness clubs shared by every one million people.

Currently, there are 2670 fitness clubs with a membership of 3.88 million people in China.

Yao said, future fitness club operators will tailor the services to cater to customers' needs. The services will be more professionalized, turning customers' spending into effective investment.
