CHENGDU, Jan. 5 (NBD) -- Existing companies in Beijing that have generated serious soil pollution will be urged to relocate to other regions or shut down, according to the city's newly released work program for soil pollution prevention.

The city will place strict restrictions on the construction or expansion of projects involving heavy metals, and speed up the elimination of industries and techniques causing heavy metal pollution, such as electroplate.
