Sponsored by the Wenjiang district government, the Chengdu Medical City Cup Innovation Competition opened on Dec 29.

According to the competition sponsor, there were nine business projects joining the competition and five of them can join the second round.

“All nine of these projects are Wenjiang based innovation projects in the medical industry,” said an official from the Wenjiang district government.

“Each competition group has at least three group members, and all patents belong to the groups,” the official added.

The innovation competition is aimed to promote the integration of medical science, medical treatment and the pharmaceutical industry. Last June, a medical makerspace was launched in Wenjiang’s Chengdu Medical City, and it attracted 14 entrepreneur groups and five new companies by the end of 2016.
