CHENGDU, Dec. 30 (NBD) -- World largest pork company WH Group (00288, HK) established itself as No. 495 of the Fortune 500 group 2016, with a total of 21.2 billion US dollars in revenue. 

Shuanghui International Holdings Limited, the previous name of WH Group, has won colossal brand awareness by its popular meat product "Shuanghui Ham Sausage" across China for years. 

It once again became under spotlight, in 2013, when Shuanghui Group announced to purchase American pork producer Smithfield Foods for approximately 4.72 billion US dollars.

As one of those earliest dealing in fresh and chilled meat sector in China, the Hong Kong-based enterprise opened, with established brand power, its chain stores in most parts across the country. 

It's acquisition of US leading pork producer Smithfield Foods is considered a pioneering strategy exploiting the Sino-US industry market. 

With pork product still the major line of the conglomerate, WH Group expands business scope with merchandize out of chicken, beef and mutton.
